Understanding and leveraging your strengths is a cornerstone of positive psychology. Use assessments like the VIA Character Strengths Survey or Gallup’s Clifton Strengths to discover your top strengths and find ways to apply them in your daily life.

 

Hack #2: Practice Gratitude Daily

Gratitude is a powerful tool for increasing happiness and well-being. Start a gratitude journal and write down three things you’re grateful for each day to cultivate a positive mindset. (Why not encourage your partner and/or kids to join you in this positive psychology exercise).

Make an effort to experience and savour positive emotions like joy, gratitude, and love. These emotions enhance well-being and resilience. Make a list of 10 things that bring you joy and commit to doing one right now!

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks. Practice resilience-building techniques such as positive reframing, seeking social support, and maintaining a growth mindset. Positive psychology coaching can really help with this – it’s a technique that requires habitual implementation to really take affect.

Flow is a state of complete immersion and enjoyment in an activity. Find activities that challenge you and match your skill level to experience flow and increase satisfaction. Make a note of what gets you into these states of flow, when time just flies by without you realising it – and make a commitment to do those things more!

Self-care is essential for maintaining well-being. Ensure you get enough sleep, eat healthily, exercise regularly, and take time for relaxation and hobbies.
